The heart of any power generation system is the  magnet generator. The reason we use these types of generators is because they are easy to find in most hardware and electrical supply stores.

Energy

An easy source for a very low cost or free permanent magnet generator is a used working or junk treadmill. These can easily be acquired on ebay or you can check out your local free online classified ads, local newspaper, shopper guides, penny savers, exc. You can use many of the other parts in the tread will as well.

A major thing you should look for when you buy or get a free  magnet motor is it operates on a low operating speed. (low RPM)  Make sure it has a high current output level and high output voltage levels. This allows you to produce more power when your source that turns the magnet motor isn’t going as fast. Please remember the lower speed your magnet generator operates the less heat, friction, moreover lowers the maintenance costs of operating your machine.

When you go to select your motor make sure it runs on DC voltage because this is what we need to generate to have our system run correctly. Our system will be using this voltage  and a few components to generate the desired AC voltage that we need so we can run your appliances, cabin, or home.

I have included a basic list of materials to operate your magnetic generator and produce the power that you need to operate your power generation system.

The first thing you need is a charge controller. This allows you to charge the batteries without discharging the batteries when little or no power is being produced from you wind or other generation source.

I recommend using RV batteries as your source to save your energy that you produced. These batteries will last the longest and they are deep cycle which we need.

You will need an inverter to convert  the energy that is stored in the batteries to a more usable AC voltage. You may want to buy an inverter that connects directly to your homes main electrical box. This is called a grid tie inverter.  This is the very basic components that you will need to make your electrical system work using your permanent magnet generator. Most items can be bought online.
