Let’s say that you own a desktop computer that is 300 Watts. What exactly does that mean? does it mean it used 300 watts per second, per hour..? Same for light bulbs, the difference between a 60 W and a 25 W makes sense in numbers, but what does that really mean? How do we pay for the consumption, how is the wattage calculated? Excuse my ignorance, just never took any classes on this subject.

I’ve read estimates that say gas prices could go up by as much as 50%, while electricity could rise by as much as 90% annually.

Then there’s this Obama quote:

My contract is up in May. Right now I am with the cheapest company according to powertochoose.org. Are rates cheaper in the winter time? Right now I have a choice of locking in 10.3¢ kWh for six months or 10.6¢ kWh for one year. If I choose the six month option, my contract will be up in November. So, is there a price forecast that we can use to know if the offers will be better in six months?

You’ll see, I signed up with US Energy Savings and they are charging me .15 + {content}.20 of GEO power price on gas, and .40 per kwh on electricity. Have I been fooled?

During commissioning of my plant, way back in 2001, we had declared 70,000 kW/ day as our maximum demand to our utility supplier. I’m not sure how they come out with that 70000 figure. Anyway, as the electricity price is already increasing, i am required to look on how to reduce cost on this area.

Basically, as for historical data, our maximum ever usage per day is around 49000 kW. On average, it is 46000kW / day. Which mean, we still have access more than 20000 kW extra every month, that we need to pay as maximum demand charge.

Based on these data, i plan to propose reducing the declared maximum demand per month from 70000 to either 65000 or 60000 or 55000 kW.

My question is, from our 49000 kW taken from our maximum usage historical value, what is the recommended % value in order to set our maximum demand? I mean, 10% or 20% or any value higher than maximum ever usage?

I need price per unit (kWh) and any surcharges that may apply.

I’m starting college this coming fall and my mom is thinking about renting the house out to me and some of my friends. I’m just wondering what you think the average monthly rate for rent, phone, cable/internet, heating, electricity, food, clothes, entertainment, and other (house supplies and what not) would be. I don’t know what an air conditioner would go under but we would need that in there too. (They are the kinda you put in the windows.)

I’ve read the Terms of Service, price per Kw/h, etc., and some give more at the beginning, while others are cheaper in the long term. Who do you think is the best electricity provider in Houston? How long did it take for you to get your power back on after Hurricane Ike?

I wouldn’t even mind if someone had a mobile home that I could rent. (It would need to be hooked up with electricity and running water of course.) I would prefer it within a 10 mile radius of Woodland Hills in the San Fernando Valley, CA

I am ending a 10+ year relationship in which I was a homemaker/housewife but things have been getting ugly emotionally not physically, with control issues and what not.

I just got a full time job in the entertainment industry and need to move out with my dog and cat. I know my pets make it harder but they are my comfort right now. They are both indoor pets. My dog is a miniature poodle so he doesn’t shed and the cat is his buddy, they actually do play with each other.

Any suggestions would be helpful…

I am a private, quiet, basically very shy person and mostly keep to myself. In the evenings I enjoy reading or watching TV… things such as ER, CSI, etc along those themes.

There is something seriously wrong with this. Energy prices have finally come down and he claims that he wants them to go right back up?

My bill looks outrageously high.. it came at 3.12

I would like to compare my bill price with the community to make sure everything is not completely out of shape.. as how it seems..

I have been with Reliant Energy for about a year and it’s been okay. I was originally with TXU but I didn’t see much savings. And I was alsp with CPL for the longest time; but, the bill was always high. Anyone out there that has a cheaper electric company. I am looking for good price and good service. I’ve had some people come by and asked to switch ; but a lot of comapnies are new and it’s hard to tell if they are any good.
