Has anybody tried "home made energy" or "earth4energy"?

Both are advertised as good plans for making solar panels for about 0. Both sell for about . Is it worth it? They make it sound like I can supply all my electricity needs (assuming average needs) with one panel costing 0 to make. That seems unreasonable to me. What do you think?

They are both scams. Here is my analysis http://www.nlcpr.com/Deceptions6.html

It is absolutely unreasonable. First, you would have to minimize all electrical loads, switching heat/cooking/dryer to gas. Then you would need a system costing 20 to 30 thousand dollars to provide the rest of the power. Notice that we are talking about a factor of 100 times more expensive. That is one of the things that makes these "plans" so outrageous.

You can’t make your own cells, but you could purchase them and assembled them into a frame and do some wiring. This like buying computer parts and putting them into a case yourself. You won’t save much if anything and probably end up with an inferior product that is difficult to mount on the roof.

For a budget of $200, you could put together a complete system, that perhaps could keep your cell phones charged, and perhaps run a small CF bulb for a few hours.

    scam.

if you have $200 you don’t want, or even $50, send it to me.

i’ll be sure to say thank you.

Find yourself a copy of Popular Mechanics, Mechanix Illustrated and or Popular Science from the 70’s. There were plenty of plans for DIY windmills back then, the science hasn’t changed much but remember that homebuilts will likely need a lot more maintenance.

Same possibility as the engine that runs on water, silicon solar cells are produced in ultra clean labs even then the failure rate is still moderate, this can’t work unless of course you have a ultra clean production lab at home and can pure silicon blocks large enough to cut the cell from, such a lab shouldn’t cost anymore than 50-60 million dollars

Absolutely not a scam. I bought earth4Energy after reading the reviews on http://www.freerenewableenergy.info and I reckon I am saving $20 a month on electricity costs. 10 month payback and expected life span of 5 – 10 years maintenance free. Best $50 i ever spent
