I need to build 2 very basic generators for a IISEF project i have in the works, and i need to know which is more important to consider when looking ate magnets.

1) Is the pull force the most important
or
2) Is the area the magnet covers (and therefor the magnetic field area) more important.

There are lots of places to find methods of making small generators that use permanent magnets, but I have always wondered how they do it when there aren’t any such magnets available.

What I meant is generator to power the headlight(s) and tail lights for bicycles.
All I see is lights power by batteries. It’ll work. But I prefer generator.
About those sales people. They say it wears down a tire. That’s hog wash. Because I use generators for years and it never did.
Ofcoarse it quit working when you stop. I’m satisfied. I don’t want to go through the trouble of reminding my self when changing the battery.

A motor can work as a motor AND a generator if you can spin the metal stick on the top fast enough.

Since generators use magnets , my question is that will a generator still generate electric power in the presence of an external magnetic field?

I have the opportunity to buy an older honda generator, EX1000. It has had hardly any use, is in great shape and the price is low. My other option is a new Honda EU 1000 I with inverter technology. I am familiar with the inverter technology and have no reason to need it other than the lighter weight . I am curious about the durability of the older technology vs new. Any one had any long term use of these generators? Thanks.

Looking for a basic remote starting panel for small generators, 3kw. Not complex just start/stop, oil light, ignition light etc. We are an OEM for a product, and will be buying a ton of units, but for the life of me everybody builds 0 to 0 units! Way too expensive, makes me not want to even talk to them about what we are doing. Suggestions?

Yes, there are actual barcode generators! Are these things safe to use and sell with to a place like Walmart, for example?
