When is the best time to sign an electricity contract with a power company?

My contract is up in May. Right now I am with the cheapest company according to powertochoose.org. Are rates cheaper in the winter time? Right now I have a choice of locking in 10.3¢ kWh for six months or 10.6¢ kWh for one year. If I choose the six month option, my contract will be up in November. So, is there a price forecast that we can use to know if the offers will be better in six months?

Does anyone know the current prices of natural gas per therm? Electricity per kwh in N.Y?

You’ll see, I signed up with US Energy Savings and they are charging me .15 + {content}.20 of GEO power price on gas, and .40 per kwh on electricity. Have I been fooled?

How much does electricity cost in Portugal?

I need price per unit (kWh) and any surcharges that may apply.

Im putting a combo vending machine on a business location. How much would it cost to pay for electricity?

The machine uses 115 volts 5 amps. It will be on for 24 hours. The average price for a kwh in nj is {content}.13. How much would it cost to run this machine for one day?

Price of electricity in PA?

What is the current price per kWh of electricity in PA?

How is my electricity bill calculated?

I understand the majority of it e.g.
I used a total of 629 kWh over 77 days.
The statement says that the first 190 of these were charged at 16.383 pence (£31.13) and the next 439 were charged at 8.491 pence (£37.28) for a total of £68.41p

What confuses me is this additional information on the statement:
‘How we calculate your electricity charges: 16.383 pence per kWh for the first 2.466 kWhs used a day, and 8.491 pence per kWh for the rest.’
To me this implies that the first few kWhs of electricity used each day are charged at the higher rate and those that are used after this are charged at the lower price (for the rest of the day). Now I’ve been told that this relates to night useage (cheaper) and day useage (more costly) but how does my ’service provider’ separate my useage into kWhs used up to 2.466 kWhs? Am I thinking about this in the wrong way?

Is electricity use by computers and phone chargers really significant?

My electricity bill seems to have increased steadily over the last two years. That coincides with our family finally getting into the "modern age’. Cell phones 2 1/2 years, home computer 15 months, add work laptop 1 year. Would this really affect our bill? It is not just the price increase. I actually check the Kwh used.

if the price of electricity suddenly went up 500% could you get by?

here in the town i live in we recently had an avalanche take out power transmission lines from our hydro dam… in the time it takes them to repair those 90% of our power is coming from diesel generators…(you should have cringed there) causing the price per kWh to go up 500% for what might be the next 3 months.

currently i make enough that i can live with a bill 5 times higher than im used to, but a couple of years ago that would have got me kicked out of my apartment because there was no way in hell i could find an extra 300 bucks a month with a week or two notice.

its been a big deal here, but we are notorious complainers, so im wondering if that situation would cause you to write letters to editors and complain to everyone who will listen all day long?
and i didn’t even mention the buisness owners whos electricity bill will go up thousands per month.

my work place alone might possibly spend an extra ,000.00 in the three months(we need lots of electricity)

Can utility companies increase electricity (kwh) price without notice?

My bill has been rising about $.005/kwh more every bill than the one before it, is this normal? I’m a new home owner.
